Welcome to 3rd grade! I’m excited to see so many familiar faces and get to know those of you whom I haven’t met yet! I am so pumped to find out more about each and every one of you this year! Here’s a little tidbit about me.
I graduated in 2001 from Augustana College with a B.A. in Psychology. After graduating, I worked with kids with severe behavioral and emotional problems at Camelot Schools. I was fortunate enough to work with these kids for 6 years, as they taught me a lot about patience and understanding. I then went back to school and received my Masters in Elementary Education from National Louis University. This will be my 5th year teaching at Lincoln but my 9th year overall. However, I’ve been working with children for the past 15 years and it has been a blast! Time sure has flown!
I had an awesome summer filled with adventures and home improvement projects! My 6 year old son Connor started 1st grade this year! I’m sure you will be hearing a ton of stories about him. My other son, Kieran turned 3 over the summer, and he is absolutely amazing! He is so laid back and just goes with the flow. You will see pictures of my two boys and hear stories about them throughout the year!
I absolutely love to fish. I had an amazing time camping, canoeing and fishing in the Boundary Waters (Northern Minnesota) this summer. We caught huge smallmouth bass and quite a few northern pike. If you love to fish, I would love to hear your stories! Aside from fishing and camping, another hobby of mine is reef keeping. I have a 120 gallon reef tank at home and I absolutely love learning about the fish and coral that I keep in it. Our theme for our classroom is Underwater Adventures, and we will discover how math and science is everywhere, even under the ocean! Therefore we will start a reef tank together in the classroom and you will get to learn about water chemistry and use cool tools like hydrometers and refractometers! As a class, we will research information about fish and corals that we add into our tank and you will help take care of our little piece of the ocean. I can’t wait to get it started with you!
We are going to learn so many great things- I can hardly wait! I know we are going to have a wonderful year together!
